Authorities look at how the relationship works in practice, not what the contract calls it. Tick everything that is true of your arrangement.

• You set their working hours.
• They use equipment and accounts you provide.
• They work for you exclusively, or almost exclusively.
• They report to a manager in your organisation.
• They sit in your team structure and attend internal meetings.
• The engagement has no end date.
• They cannot send a substitute to do the work.
• They receive leave, bonuses or benefits like an employee.
• They carry a job title and a company email address.
• You pay a fixed monthly amount rather than per deliverable.
