DeelVerified

130countries covered

  • Price 599 USD per employee per month

Deel says it owns entities in more than 130 countries, which puts it among the largest owned networks of any EOR provider. Its published EOR fee of USD 599 per employee per month is in line with the other large platforms, and contracts run month to month. It suits companies hiring both contractors and employees across several countries. Before signing, get the deposit amount and FX markup in writing, confirm that no offboarding fee applies, and check which of your countries run through a partner rather than a Deel entity.

RemoteVerified

90countries covered

  • Price 699 USD per employee per month

Remote employs your staff through entities it owns in every country where it offers EOR, and its terms leave indemnities for EOR services uncapped, so it ranks well on compliance. The cost is a list fee of USD 699 per employee per month, and the margin in its monthly FX rate is not published. Standard terms can be cancelled on 30 days' notice, but an order form with a minimum contract value commits you for its full term and renews at a higher price. Shortlist it if owned entities in every country matter most to you, and get the FX margin and any order form terms in writing before you sign.

Notice: notice periods for salaried staff (funktionærer) strictly depend on continuous tenure: employer-initiated dismissals require 1 month's notice during the first 6 months (including probation), 3 months for up to 3 years of service, 4 months for up to 6 years, 5 months for up to 9 years, and 6 months for service exceeding 9 years, all ending on the last day of a calendar month; whereas employee resignations require a flat 1 month's notice ending on the last day of any calendar month regardless of tenure.

Employment contracts

Written employment terms are required in Denmark for anyone working more than 3 hours a week on average, and the EOR issues them as the legal employer. Your company signs a separate service agreement.

The terms set out role, salary in DKK, working time, holiday, notice and any restrictive covenants. The EOR is the counterparty to the employee, which is what removes the need for your own entity.

The core terms must be issued within 7 calendar days of the start date, and English is standard for commercial roles. Check whether a collective agreement covers the role, because it can set pay, hours and pension above the contract.

Fixed-term contracts are permitted, but successive renewals need an objective reason and most EORs default to indefinite terms.

Probation

Probation in Denmark is capped at 3 months for salaried employees. During probation the employer can end employment on 14 days' notice, but only if the probation is agreed in writing.

Set probation from day one. The 14 days' notice must run out within the 3 months, so a decision to let someone go has to be made before the final fortnight.

Some EORs shorten probation as policy because they, not you, carry the dismissal risk. Ask before you agree a start date.

Working time and overtime

The standard week is 37 hours by collective agreement and market practice, within a legal cap of 48 hours on average including overtime. There is no statutory overtime premium.

Where a collective agreement covers the role, it sets the overtime rate and any time off in lieu. An 11-hour daily rest period and a weekly day off also apply.

Senior professionals often have overtime built into salary, so overtime becomes a contractual matter rather than a collective one. Put the position in writing either way.

Leave and public holidays

Employees get 25 days of paid annual holiday, accrued at 2.08 days a month, plus 10 public holidays. Sick, maternity and parental leave sit on top.

Market practice for professional roles is often 30 days, because a sixth holiday week is common, so quote the market figure when you budget. Salaried staff also receive a 1% holiday supplement, plus a 0.45% salary supplement that replaced Great Prayer Day when it stopped being a public holiday in 2024.

Salaried employees keep full pay when sick, and the employer carries the first 30 days before municipal reimbursement starts. Parental leave is largely state funded, but employers often pay full salary and reclaim it through the Barsel.dk scheme, so confirm which side the EOR carries.

Termination and severance

Termination difficulty here is 3 out of 5. Employer notice for salaried staff runs one to six months by tenure, and statutory severance applies only after 12 years.

Notice runs to the end of a month, and the employer may release the employee from duty for the notice period rather than pay in lieu. Severance is one month's pay after 12 years and three months after 17, unless a collective agreement or the contract says more.

The EOR runs the process as the legal employer and will want the paperwork in order, including final pay, accrued holiday and any contractual severance. Salaried employees with a year's service can claim compensation if the dismissal is not reasonably justified, so keep a documented reason.

Statutory benefits

ATP is the only statutory pension and costs the employer a flat DKK 198 a month for a full-time employee. Occupational pension is not statutory unless a collective agreement requires it, but it is market standard.

Occupational pension, health insurance and group life are standard for professional roles even though they are not mandatory. Employer pension contributions of 8% to 12% of salary are typical, so include them in the offer.

EORs often bundle benefits through a group scheme. Ask what is included in the fee and what is billed on top.

Payroll and tax

Payroll runs monthly in DKK, usually paid on the last banking day of the month. Income tax and the 8% labour market contribution are withheld at source.

Statutory employer contributions are flat amounts rather than a percentage, roughly DKK 8,000 to 11,000 per full-time employee a year across ATP, AUB, Barsel.dk and occupational injury cover. That is before pension and the EOR fee.

The tax card is the trap. A new hire without a tax card is taxed at 55% until one is issued, and the Danish Tax Agency will not issue it earlier than a month before the start date, so build that into the onboarding timeline.

Work permits

EU, EEA and Swiss nationals need no permit. Other foreign hires need a residence and work permit, usually under the Pay Limit Scheme at DKK 552,000 a year in 2026, and processing normally takes about a month.

Ask whether the EOR sponsors directly or refers to a partner. A partner-model EOR often cannot sponsor at all, because the permit is tied to the Danish employer on the application. The Fast-track route also needs a SIRI-certified employer with at least 10 full-time staff in Denmark.

SIRI can take up to 3 months if it needs more documents, so set start dates after approval, not before.

Data protection

Employee data is processed under GDPR and the Danish Data Protection Act, with the EOR acting as controller for employment records and processor for your instructions.

Get the data processing terms in the service agreement, not just the privacy notice. Transfers outside the EEA need a lawful basis such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.

Ask where payroll data is hosted and who in the partner chain can see it. CPR numbers carry extra restrictions under Danish law.

When to open your own entity

The usual trigger in Denmark is 5 to 15 employees, or a permanent commercial presence. Below that, an EOR is normally cheaper and faster.

Incorporation here is quick and an ApS needs only DKK 20,000 in share capital, but the running cost is the point: accounting, an annual report, audit unless the company qualifies for the small-company exemption, digital bookkeeping and payroll software set an annual floor.

Permanent establishment risk is about what people do, not where payroll sits. Revenue-generating activity can create exposure regardless of the employment route.

The trade-offs are a USD 699 monthly list price, a refundable deposit of about one month's employment cost per hire, and EOR coverage of 120+ countries rather than the 180+ headline. There are no onboarding or offboarding fees, and monthly billing carries no minimum term.

Questions buyers ask about Denmark

How much does it cost to employ someone in Denmark through an EOR?
Budget the gross salary, plus roughly DKK 8,000 to 11,000 a year in statutory employer levies, plus occupational pension where it applies, plus the EOR fee. Published EOR fees sit in the 199 to 699 USD per employee per month band, or a percentage of payroll.
How long does it take to onboard an employee in Denmark?
Typically 2 to 7 working days once the candidate has accepted and right to work is confirmed. Residence and work permit cases take considerably longer.
Can an EOR terminate an employee in Denmark?
Yes. Statutory notice applies and termination difficulty here is 3 out of 5, but the EOR will still want a documented reason to limit unfair dismissal exposure.
Does the EOR need its own entity in Denmark?
Someone in the chain must hold a local entity, and only that entity can apply for a residence and work permit as the employer. Ask whether the provider owns it or uses a partner, in writing.
