  • Price 599 USD per employee per month

Deel says it owns entities in more than 130 countries, which puts it among the largest owned networks of any EOR provider. Its published EOR fee of USD 599 per employee per month is in line with the other large platforms, and contracts run month to month. It suits companies hiring both contractors and employees across several countries. Before signing, get the deposit amount and FX markup in writing, confirm that no offboarding fee applies, and check which of your countries run through a partner rather than a Deel entity.

RemoteVerified

90countries covered

  • Price 699 USD per employee per month

Remote employs your staff through entities it owns in every country where it offers EOR, and its terms leave indemnities for EOR services uncapped, so it ranks well on compliance. The cost is a list fee of USD 699 per employee per month, and the margin in its monthly FX rate is not published. Standard terms can be cancelled on 30 days' notice, but an order form with a minimum contract value commits you for its full term and renews at a higher price. Shortlist it if owned entities in every country matter most to you, and get the FX margin and any order form terms in writing before you sign.

Notice: notice periods are not required for employer-initiated dismissals (whether with or without cause), meaning termination takes effect immediately upon written notification, though employees on indefinite contracts may resign voluntarily with 30 days' advance notice (or 15 days for non-managerial roles).

Employment contracts

A written employment contract is required in El Salvador, and the EOR issues it as the legal employer. Your company signs a separate service agreement.

The contract sets out role, salary in USD, working time, place of work, leave and any confidentiality obligations. The EOR is the counterparty to the employee, which is what removes the need for your own entity.

Spanish is the standard contract language, and a copy must reach the Ministry of Labour within 8 days of signing.

Fixed-term contracts are only valid where the work itself is temporary, so most EORs default to indefinite terms.

Probation

Probation in El Salvador is capped at 30 days. Either side can end the contract during it without cause or severance, but the period must be stated in the contract.

Set probation from day one. The 30-day limit is statutory and cannot be extended, so plan any real assessment inside the first month.

Some EORs skip probation as policy, which means the minimum dismissal indemnity applies from the start. Ask before you agree a start date.

Working time and overtime

The standard week is 44 hours, with no more than 8 hours a day. Overtime is paid at double the basic hourly rate.

Night shifts are shorter and carry a 25% premium, and work on a public holiday also earns double pay.

Overtime may only be agreed occasionally, when unforeseen or special circumstances call for it, so it cannot be written into a role as a standing expectation. Put the position on senior roles in writing either way.

Leave and public holidays

Employees get 15 days of paid annual leave after each year of service, paid with a 30% premium, plus 11 national public holidays. Sick and maternity leave sit on top.

Quote the statutory 15 days plus the 30% premium when you budget, and add any extra days the role needs to compete. San Salvador adds local holidays in early August.

The employer pays the first three days of sick leave, after which the social security institute (ISSS) pays 75% of salary. Maternity leave is 16 weeks funded mainly through the ISSS and paternity leave is 3 days paid by the employer, so confirm which side the EOR carries.

Termination and severance

Termination difficulty here is 3 out of 5. There is no statutory notice period for dismissal, but dismissal without just cause triggers a severance indemnity.

Dismissal for one of the just causes listed in the Labour Code carries no indemnity. Dismissal without just cause costs 30 days' basic salary per year of service, with the daily rate capped at four times the minimum wage and a floor of 15 days' pay.

The EOR runs the process as the legal employer and will want the paperwork in order, including final pay, unused leave, the proportional Christmas bonus (aguinaldo) and any indemnity. Unfair dismissal claims go to the labour courts, so keep a documented reason.

Employees with two or more years' service who resign also receive a statutory payment of 15 days' salary per year, capped at twice the minimum wage.

Statutory benefits

Health cover through the ISSS and the AFP pension are the dominant statutory costs, plus a 1% training levy on employers with 10 or more staff. The aguinaldo of 15 to 21 days' salary is statutory too.

Private medical cover and group life are common top-ups for professional roles even though they are not mandatory.

EORs often bundle benefits through a group scheme. Ask what is included in the fee and what is billed on top.

Payroll and tax

Payroll runs monthly or fortnightly in USD, the national currency. Income tax is withheld at source, with the first USD 550 a month exempt.

Employer contributions add up to 17.25% on top of gross salary, with the ISSS share capped at USD 75 a month. That is before the EOR fee.

The aguinaldo is the trap. It falls due between 12 and 20 December, so accrue it monthly rather than meeting a lump sum at year end.

Work permits

Foreign hires need a work permit from the Ministry of Labour plus temporary residence, and the sponsoring entity must keep at least 90% of staff and 85% of payroll Salvadoran. Processing takes 2 to 4 months.

Ask whether the EOR sponsors directly or refers to a partner. A partner-model EOR often cannot sponsor at all, and the headcount and payroll ratios apply to the sponsor, not to you.

Nationals of neighbouring Central American countries usually move faster. Set start dates after approval, not before.

Data protection

Employee data is processed under the Personal Data Protection Law of 2024, with the EOR acting as controller for employment records and processor for your instructions.

Get the data processing terms in the service agreement, not just the privacy notice. Cross-border transfers need a lawful basis, and the regulator's policies require a named data protection officer.

Ask where payroll data is hosted and who in the partner chain can see it.

When to open your own entity

The usual trigger in El Salvador is 5 to 15 employees, or a permanent commercial presence. Below that, an EOR is normally cheaper and faster.

Incorporation is manageable, but the running cost is the point: at least two shareholders, a legal representative, an external auditor, accounting, tax and municipal registrations and payroll software set an annual floor.

Permanent establishment risk is about what people do, not where payroll sits. Revenue-generating activity can create exposure regardless of the employment route.

G-P is one of the most compliance-focused EORs available, with over 100 of its own legal entities and a long record in heavily regulated countries. Its list price starts at USD 599 per employee per month, but independent reviewers report higher quotes, a one-off setup fee per hire, a deposit, an FX markup and an offboarding charge. The trade-offs are a USD 699 monthly list price, a refundable deposit of about one month's employment cost per hire, and EOR coverage of 120+ countries rather than the 180+ headline. There are no onboarding or offboarding fees, and monthly billing carries no minimum term.

Questions buyers ask about El Salvador

How much does it cost to employ someone in El Salvador through an EOR?
Budget the gross salary, plus up to 17.25% in employer contributions, plus the aguinaldo and the 30% vacation premium, plus the EOR fee. Published EOR fees sit in the 199 to 699 USD per employee per month band, or a percentage of payroll.
How long does it take to onboard an employee in El Salvador?
Typically 2 to 7 working days once the candidate has accepted and right to work is confirmed. Work permit and residence cases take considerably longer.
Can an EOR terminate an employee in El Salvador?
Yes. Dismissal without just cause triggers an indemnity of 30 days' salary per year of service and termination difficulty here is 3 out of 5, so the EOR will still want a documented reason to limit exposure.
Does the EOR need its own entity in El Salvador?
Someone in the chain must hold a local entity, and only that entity can sponsor a work permit and residence. Ask whether the provider owns it or uses a partner, in writing.
