130countries covered

  • Price 599 USD per employee per month

Deel says it owns entities in more than 130 countries, which puts it among the largest owned networks of any EOR provider. Its published EOR fee of USD 599 per employee per month is in line with the other large platforms, and contracts run month to month. It suits companies hiring both contractors and employees across several countries. Before signing, get the deposit amount and FX markup in writing, confirm that no offboarding fee applies, and check which of your countries run through a partner rather than a Deel entity.

RemoteVerified

90countries covered

  • Price 699 USD per employee per month

Remote employs your staff through entities it owns in every country where it offers EOR, and its terms leave indemnities for EOR services uncapped, so it ranks well on compliance. The cost is a list fee of USD 699 per employee per month, and the margin in its monthly FX rate is not published. Standard terms can be cancelled on 30 days' notice, but an order form with a minimum contract value commits you for its full term and renews at a higher price. Shortlist it if owned entities in every country matter most to you, and get the FX margin and any order form terms in writing before you sign.

Employment contracts

A written contract in Arabic is required in Oman, and the EOR issues it as the legal employer. Your company signs a separate service agreement.

The terms set out role, salary in OMR, working time, leave, notice and any restrictive covenants. The EOR is the counterparty to the employee, which is what removes the need for your own entity.

Arabic is the legal contract language, so bilingual Arabic and English contracts are standard. The contract must also be approved by the Ministry of Labour.

Fixed-term contracts can run up to 5 years including renewals. Beyond that, the contract is treated as indefinite.

Probation

Probation in Oman is capped at 3 months for monthly-paid staff and 2 months for others. Either side can end it on 7 days' notice, and the terms must be stated in the contract.

Set probation from day one. Probation can only be used once with the same employer, and it cannot run past the statutory cap.

Some EORs shorten probation as policy because they, not you, carry the dismissal risk. Ask before you agree a start date.

Working time and overtime

The standard week is 40 hours, at no more than 8 a day, with two consecutive paid rest days. Overtime carries a statutory premium and normally needs the employee's consent.

Agreed overtime is paid at the basic hourly rate plus at least 25% by day and 50% at night, with a cap of 12 working hours a day.

Muslim employees work no more than 6 hours a day during Ramadan, so plan delivery around it. Put the overtime position in writing either way.

Leave and public holidays

Employees get at least 30 days of paid annual leave after 6 months' service, plus public holidays that typically total 12 to 15 days. Sick, maternity and paternity leave sit on top.

Up to 30 unused days can roll over and any balance is paid out at gross wage on exit, so track leave from day one. Expatriate employees are also entitled to a return ticket home for annual leave as agreed in the contract.

Maternity leave is 98 days and paternity leave 7 days, both on gross wage. Paid sick leave runs up to 182 days a year on a sliding scale, and since July 2026 the Social Protection Fund reimburses it for insured Omani employees from day 8, so confirm which side the EOR carries.

Termination and severance

Termination difficulty here is 3 out of 5. Notice is 30 days for monthly-paid staff, and dismissal must rest on a legitimate reason.

Either side may terminate on notice or pay in lieu. Poor performance needs a written warning and at least 6 months to improve, and redundancy needs prior approval from a Ministry of Labour committee.

The EOR runs the process as the legal employer and will want the paperwork in order, including final pay, unused leave and the end-of-service gratuity for expatriates. Arbitrary dismissal claims exist, with compensation capped at 12 months' gross wage, so keep a documented reason.

Statutory benefits

Social Protection Fund contributions are the dominant statutory cost and apply mainly to Omani nationals. Expatriates sit outside the pension branch but earn an end-of-service gratuity instead.

The gratuity is at least one month's basic wage per year of service. A 9% employer-funded savings scheme replaces it no later than 19 July 2027, and gratuity earned before the switch is still owed.

Private medical cover is standard for professional roles, and housing and transport allowances are common in expatriate packages. EORs often bundle benefits through a group scheme. Ask what is included in the fee and what is billed on top.

Payroll and tax

Payroll runs monthly in OMR, paid into a local bank account. There is no personal income tax today, but a 5% tax on income above OMR 42,000 a year starts on 1 January 2028.

Employer contributions add 14.5% on top of the monthly wage for Omani nationals, with the pension and work injury branches capped at a wage of OMR 3,000 a month. That is before the EOR fee.

The 2028 income tax is the trap. Senior hires on multi-year packages may cross the threshold, and the collection rules are still being set, so ask how the EOR will handle filing.

Work permits

Foreign hires need labour clearance from the Ministry of Labour and an employment visa from the Royal Oman Police. Processing typically takes 2 to 6 weeks.

Ask whether the EOR sponsors directly or refers to a partner. A partner-model EOR often cannot sponsor at all, and Omanisation ratios and the list of jobs reserved for Omanis apply to the sponsor, not to you.

Set start dates after approval, not before.

Data protection

Employee data is processed under the Personal Data Protection Law, fully enforceable since February 2026, with the EOR acting as controller for employment records and processor for your instructions.

Get the data processing terms in the service agreement, not just the privacy notice. Cross-border transfers are tightly controlled and carry the heaviest fines under the law.

Ask where payroll data is hosted and who in the partner chain can see it.

When to open your own entity

The usual trigger in Oman is 5 to 15 employees, or a permanent commercial presence. Below that, an EOR is normally cheaper and faster.

Most activities now allow 100% foreign ownership with no statutory minimum capital, but the running cost is the point: commercial registration renewals, Chamber of Commerce membership, audit, PRO services and your own Omanisation obligations set an annual floor.

Permanent establishment risk is about what people do, not where payroll sits. Revenue-generating activity can create exposure regardless of the employment route.

G-P is one of the most compliance-focused EORs available, with over 100 of its own legal entities and a long record in heavily regulated countries. Its list price starts at USD 599 per employee per month, but independent reviewers report higher quotes, a one-off setup fee per hire, a deposit, an FX markup and an offboarding charge. Shortlist it if you’re a larger business that puts compliance ahead of cost, and get the full fee schedule in writing before you sign.

Oyster suits companies that want HR experts, legal support and termination handling included in one EOR fee, along with integrations for the most common HRIS and ATS platforms. The trade-offs are a USD 699 monthly list price, a refundable deposit of about one month's employment cost per hire, and EOR coverage of 120+ countries rather than the 180+ headline. There are no onboarding or offboarding fees, and monthly billing carries no minimum term.

Questions buyers ask about Oman

How much does it cost to employ someone in Oman through an EOR?
Budget the gross salary, plus 14.5% in employer contributions for Omani nationals or the end-of-service accrual for expatriates, plus the EOR fee. Published EOR fees sit in the 199 to 699 USD per employee per month band, or a percentage of payroll.
How long does it take to onboard an employee in Oman?
Typically 5 to 10 working days for Omani nationals once the candidate has accepted and the contract is approved. Expatriate hires need labour clearance and a work visa first, so they take considerably longer.
Can an EOR terminate an employee in Oman?
Yes. Notice or pay in lieu applies and termination difficulty here is 3 out of 5, but the EOR will need a legitimate, documented reason to limit arbitrary dismissal exposure.
Does the EOR need its own entity in Oman?
Someone in the chain must hold a local entity, and only that entity can sponsor a work visa. Ask whether the provider owns it or uses a partner, in writing.
