130countries covered

  • Price 599 USD per employee per month

Deel says it owns entities in more than 130 countries, which puts it among the largest owned networks of any EOR provider. Its published EOR fee of USD 599 per employee per month is in line with the other large platforms, and contracts run month to month. It suits companies hiring both contractors and employees across several countries. Before signing, get the deposit amount and FX markup in writing, confirm that no offboarding fee applies, and check which of your countries run through a partner rather than a Deel entity.

RemoteVerified

90countries covered

  • Price 699 USD per employee per month

Remote employs your staff through entities it owns in every country where it offers EOR, and its terms leave indemnities for EOR services uncapped, so it ranks well on compliance. The cost is a list fee of USD 699 per employee per month, and the margin in its monthly FX rate is not published. Standard terms can be cancelled on 30 days' notice, but an order form with a minimum contract value commits you for its full term and renews at a higher price. Shortlist it if owned entities in every country matter most to you, and get the FX margin and any order form terms in writing before you sign.

Employment contracts

Written employment contracts are standard in Nepal under the Labour Act 2017, and the EOR issues them as the legal employer. Your company signs a separate service agreement.

The terms set out role, salary in NPR, working time, leave, notice and any restrictive covenants. The EOR is the counterparty to the employee, which is what removes the need for your own entity.

English is common for commercial roles, but Nepali is the language of the Labour Office and the courts, so a bilingual version is worth having.

Time-bound, work-based, casual and part-time employment are all recognised, but most EORs default to regular, open-ended terms.

Probation

Probation in Nepal is capped at 6 months. The employer can end employment during probation if performance is unsatisfactory, but the terms must be stated in the contract.

Set probation from day one. If employment is not ended by the close of probation, it is confirmed automatically.

Some EORs shorten probation as policy because they, not you, carry the dismissal risk. Ask before you agree a start date.

Working time and overtime

The standard week is 48 hours, usually across six days. Overtime pay is statutory and has no earnings threshold.

Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the normal rate, capped at 4 hours a day and 24 hours a week.

Professional hires are not carved out by salary, so overtime remains a statutory matter rather than a purely contractual one. Put the position in writing either way.

Leave and public holidays

Employees earn one day of home leave for every 20 days worked, plus 13 public holidays (14 for women). Sick, maternity, paternity and mourning leave sit on top.

The government declares far more public holidays than 13 each year and many offices close for the major festivals, so budget for market practice rather than the statutory floor.

Sick leave is 12 days on full pay, maternity leave is 98 days with 60 fully paid, and fathers get 15 days. Unused home leave accrues up to 90 days and sick leave up to 45, and both are cashed out on exit, so confirm who carries that liability.

Termination and severance

Termination difficulty here is 3 out of 5. Notice runs one day to 30 days by tenure, and retrenchment carries statutory compensation.

Either side may terminate on notice or pay in lieu. Retrenchment compensation is one month's salary per year of service, unless the employee qualifies for the Social Security Fund's unemployment allowance.

The EOR runs the process as the legal employer and will want the paperwork in order, including final pay, accrued leave, any festival allowance due and statutory compensation. Employees can challenge a dismissal at the Labour Office, so keep a documented reason.

Statutory benefits

The Social Security Fund is the dominant statutory cost, with employers paying 20% of basic salary and employees 11%. It covers medical, maternity, accident, disability and old-age benefits.

Private medical cover is common for professional roles, because the fund's medical benefit only applies after six months of contributions.

EORs often bundle benefits through a group scheme. Ask what is included in the fee and what is billed on top.

Payroll and tax

Payroll runs monthly in NPR. Income tax is withheld at source by the employer, and the tax year runs from mid-July to mid-July.

Employer contributions add 20% of basic salary, not gross, so the split between basic pay and allowances drives the real cost. That is before the EOR fee.

The festival allowance is the trap. Every employee is owed an extra month's basic salary each year, normally paid before Dashain, so a budget built on 12 monthly payments will fall short.

Work permits

Foreign hires need a labour permit from the Department of Labour and a non-tourist visa from the Department of Immigration, and the sponsor must first show no suitable Nepali candidate is available. Processing takes 4 to 8 weeks.

Ask whether the EOR sponsors directly or refers to a partner. A partner-model EOR often cannot sponsor at all, and the local advertising requirement and the plan to replace the hire with a Nepali citizen sit with the sponsor, not with you.

Set start dates after approval, not before.

Data protection

Employee data is processed under the Individual Privacy Act 2018, which leans heavily on consent, with the EOR acting as controller for employment records and processor for your instructions.

Get the data processing terms in the service agreement, not just the privacy notice. Sending personal data outside Nepal is generally read as needing the employee's specific consent, so build it into onboarding.

Ask where payroll data is hosted and who in the partner chain can see it.

When to open your own entity

The usual trigger in Nepal is 10 to 20 employees, or a permanent commercial presence. Below that, an EOR is normally cheaper and faster.

Incorporation here is slow and capital-heavy: foreign investment needs Department of Industry approval, a minimum of NPR 20 million outside the IT sector, and typically 3 to 5 months to register. Profit repatriation also runs through Nepal Rastra Bank.

Permanent establishment risk is about what people do, not where payroll sits. Revenue-generating activity can create exposure regardless of the employment route.

G-P is one of the most compliance-focused EORs available, with over 100 of its own legal entities and a long record in heavily regulated countries. Its list price starts at USD 599 per employee per month, but independent reviewers report higher quotes, a one-off setup fee per hire, a deposit, an FX markup and an offboarding charge. Shortlist it if you’re a larger business that puts compliance ahead of cost, and get the full fee schedule in writing before you sign.

Oyster suits companies that want HR experts, legal support and termination handling included in one EOR fee, along with integrations for the most common HRIS and ATS platforms. The trade-offs are a USD 699 monthly list price, a refundable deposit of about one month's employment cost per hire, and EOR coverage of 120+ countries rather than the 180+ headline. There are no onboarding or offboarding fees, and monthly billing carries no minimum term.

Questions buyers ask about Nepal

How much does it cost to employ someone in Nepal through an EOR?
Budget the gross salary, plus 20% of basic salary in employer Social Security Fund contributions, plus one month's basic salary a year as festival allowance, plus the EOR fee. Published EOR fees sit in the 199 to 699 USD per employee per month band, or a percentage of payroll.
How long does it take to onboard an employee in Nepal?
Typically 5 to 10 working days once the candidate has accepted and right to work is confirmed, including Social Security Fund registration. Labour permit cases take considerably longer.
Can an EOR terminate an employee in Nepal?
Yes. Notice or pay in lieu applies and termination difficulty here is 3 out of 5, but the EOR will still want a documented reason, as dismissals can be challenged at the Labour Office.
Does the EOR need its own entity in Nepal?
Someone in the chain must hold a local entity, and only that entity can sponsor a labour permit. Ask whether the provider owns it or uses a partner, in writing.
